Objective: Students will be able to define the different types of energy sources.
What are different types of renewable energy?
Renewable energy is energy that is generated from natural processes that are continuously replenished. This includes sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. This energy cannot be exhausted and is constantly renewed. (Penn State University). Different types of renewable energy are solar energy which is energy from the sun, wind energy which is energy retrieved from the wind, hydropower which is energy from water, and Kinetic energy which is energy from motion (Educational Portal) which are shown in the article above. The article goes into detail on each one.
For day two's lesson start by showing them the articles and videos from Alternative Energy. Have them follow along and answer the questions that go along with it. Another video to show after is Renewable Energy Source. It will be a fun way for them to see the different types of renewable energy. After the videos have the students pick one of the above examples of renewable energy. Have them create a short presentation on their topic. After 30 min or so have them come back together as a class and give their presentation. By doing this it will help the students learn about all the topics in a fun and engaging way. Students love to hear what their classmates have to say, this will ensure that they are learning what they need to know about renewable energy. Once they have al presented pass out this worksheet and make hem place the energy sources into the correct sides, either renewable or nonrenewable. Then come together as a class and go over it.
